  1. Hi guys, I really appreciate what you are doing here– I wish there had been more stuff like this when I was growing up. I just wanted to comment on your article about UTIs. When I was a teenager, I had to have really intense back surgery, & during the surgery, I was fitted with a catheter that then stayed in for the nearly-a-week that I was stuck laying in the hospital bed, recovering. After I finally got out, I had a serious of UTIs in close succession. Ever since then, I’ve been really prone to getting them, especially if I have sex without waiting until there’s adequate lubrication. My doctor told me that every UTI you have basically does a little bit of damage to the urethra, & this makes it easier for a future infection to gain a foothold.
Also, in my experience, the infections are so unbearably painful that when I read your advice to wait a few days & see if it clears up on its own, I literally cringed. I would always advise any woman lucky enough to catch a UTI before it reaches the point of intense pain to go to the doctor as quickly as possible. It is also a good idea to call the doctor immediately, because you never know if they will actually be able to fit you in that day.
Anyways, just some things for you to think about. Thank you again, & keep up the good work!
